Description
Why should you buy a Citroen SM?
As ‘suppliers of driving pleasure’ we select our assortment of driver cars based on a broadly interpretable set of requirements.
This Citroen ticks off a lot of boxes. The car was launched on the Geneva Car Show in 1970, a Gran Turismo synonymous with elegance, speed and technology far ahead of its time. Look at the aerodynamics, the 6 headlights of which 2 turn with the wheels, the Duravi (direction à rappel asservi) steering system, the hydraulic suspension and so much more.
This GT has a top speed well over 200 km/u thanks to the 2,7 liter Maserati engine.
A true and timeless icon with seventies vibe, just look at the velours interior. Comfortable luxury and a folding Webasto roof.
What the lettres SM stand for ? Nobody knows but we can settle for the nickname ‘Sa Majesté’ as superlative to the Déesse.
Why should you buy this Citroen SM?
In short because: you will have to travel far and look very meticlulously to find a better example. It has a wonderful colour combination with the Beige Tholonet (AC085) together with the brown velours interior. The Webasto folding roof works perfectly as does the hydraulic suspension on all different positions. Not surprising since all features are in good working condition.
The last MOT mentions a crack in the windscreen (see pictures) and some sweating of the engine.
We included pictures of the bottom of the car, which looks as good as new after a recent thorough detailing session. So does the engine bay and the interior. Clearly a car that has been well cared for.
The SM has four minor things to sort to have it perfect, so this is your chance to own a stunning Citroen SM on which you can perform the final touch. Your chance to own a stunning Citroen SM
Why is this Citroën SM in our car range?
It’s luxurious, it’s fast and it’s avant-garde and it would surely be an excellent car for the show ‘Comedians in cars getting coffee’ starring Jerry Seinfeld. We love our classics, but the proof of the pudding is in the driving. This Gran Turismo has roadtrip written all over it, and the neatest trick the previous owner pulled was installing a Webasto roof in this car. Overcoming one of the known flaws of an overheated interior due to the Italian ponies in the stable.
Not only does this car have enough elegance to take you to the Movie Festival of Cannes, but it is combined with a pinch of Italian panache. If you are looking for a car to drive around lake Como or cruise the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, this car can do it all.
You will centainly stand out on a Sunday drive with the local car club as the Citroen SM is a rare but iconic sight.
This example originally came onto the Italian roads and we can imagine driving this Maserati powered GT over there, inland or at the seaside.
Why wait !?
